Taylors Fish & Chips Team
Our Story

There’s nothing fishy about our story.

First caught serving delicious fish and chips cooked on a coal range and wrapped in newspaper in the 1920s, we’ve a long line of fresh fish fanatics in our family.

If 1966 was a good year for football, it was an even better year for fish and chips. Taylors was born. A fish and chip shop set to make waves in Hattersley before setting anchor in Woodley. Jennie and Albert set sail for success before Anne and Bob steered the business to national recognition. Always a family business, and always treating staff and locals as family.

There’s a belief that has always stayed true at Taylors – the fresher the better. And it doesn’t get any fresher than sustainably-caught fish frozen at sea, or fresh pies made right here in our own kitchen. Quality produce made by people with passion and pride – and making a positive difference. We’ve had our ups and downs and we’ve navigated choppy waters – but we know the way to stay on course is to look ahead. That’s why we’re still here today, serving the nation’s favourite food that’s loved by locals old and young.

For a fresh take on fish and chips, make it Taylors because…
Taylors, Make It Fresh

Where do our chips REALLY come from?

Locally Grown Goodness
Our potatoes come from Bennett’s Potatoes of Denton – a family business with generations of farming know-how.

The Farms Behind the Chips
Yes, potatoes do have postcodes… and so do your chips!
– Marsh Farm, Walpole, Wisbech, PE14 7JF
– Top House Farm, West Cowick, Near Goole, DN14 9EB

Varieties We Love
We switch between Sajita & Agri, depending on the season.
Right now, it’s Sajita season = crisp, golden & fluffy inside = chip royalty. Behind the scenes, we’re always sampling new varieties, supporting British farmers.

Freshly Prepped
Peeled, cut, soaked… all by our very own chipologist (yes, that’s 100% a real job).

Seasonal TLC
Potatoes are fussy little things – so they get clever storage (even underfloor heating!) to stay perfect year-round.

Temperature Matters
Too cold = sweet & dark
Too warm = soft & soggy
Just right = golden, fluffy perfection

No Secrets Here
We’ll always tell you which varieties are in the fryer – in shop & online.
